A few years ago at Boehmer’s Hillside Homestead, we purchased our very first farm animal — a small Jersey x Speckle Park heifer named Muffin. At the time, we weren’t entirely sure what direction we wanted to take, but we knew one thing for certain: we loved her and couldn’t imagine parting with her. That’s when we decided to breed her to Angus. Having excellent maternal traits, high fertility, hardiness, meat quality, and a docile temperament, we brought together the best qualities of each breed into one animal. This combination produces easy-keeping cattle that thrive on grass, and perform well in diverse conditions to deliver high quality, flavorful beef.
